Air Rifle Gunsmith (full-time)

With a busy workload and a growing customer base we are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Air Rifle Gunsmith to join our team.

The ideal candidate will possess expertise in the repair, maintenance, customisation, and performance tuning of air rifles. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for diagnosing mechanical issues, performing repairs, upgrading components, and ensuring that air rifles meet the highest standards of safety and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Repair & Maintenance: Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical issues in air rifles, including triggers mechanisms, valves, seals, barrels and cocking mechanisms. Knowledge and experience of all types of Air Rifles from Spring, CO2 and Pre-Charged Pneumatic is required.
  • Customisation & Upgrades: Customise and upgrade air rifles by fitting aftermarket parts, modifying internal components, and enhancing performance.
  • Assembly & Disassembly: Disassemble, clean, and reassemble air rifles, ensuring all components are properly maintained and aligned.
  • Tuning & Testing: Tune air rifles for optimal accuracy, power, and smooth operation; conduct tests to ensure performance meets manufacturer specifications and customer expectations.
  • Inventory & Parts Management: Manage inventory of parts, tools, and equipment necessary for air rifle repairs and customisations. Ensure that parts are ordered in a timely manner and that the work area is organised.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure that all work adheres to safety standards and regulations, maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
  • Documentation: Keep accurate records of repairs, upgrades, and any other work performed on air rifles, including parts used and customer details.

Essential:

  • Technical Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Proficiency in the use of hand tools, power tools, and specialised gunsmithing equipment.
  • Experience: Working with machine tools such as lathes, millers and drill presses to achieve the highest quality results.
  • Knowledge of precision measurement tools for ensuring accuracy in repairs and tuning.
  • Attention to Detail: High attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Communication: Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues and solutions clearly to customers.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to handle and work with small parts and tools, including the ability to lift and move equipment as needed.
  • Team Player: Ability to collaborate with team members in a busy workshop environment including keeping colleagues and customers up to date and liaising with suppliers.

Desirable:

  • Experience: air rifle gunsmithing and repair, firearms repair, or a related field. Experience with both spring-powered and pre-charged pneumatic (PCP) air rifles and CO2 Air Pistols is preferred.
  • Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of air rifle systems, parts, and modifications. Including familiarity with brands, models, and performance tuning.
  • Certifications: Any certification or training for gun safety would be advantageous.

A history of Gunsmithing is preferred however an experienced engineer with knowledge of pneumatics and intricate mechanisms may be considered.

We are currently seeking a self-motivated shop manager to join our friendly, family-run sporting goods outlet.

We are looking for someone with experience and drive that can implement methods to help achieve goals, maximise sales and inspire our team.

You will be responsible for implementing and ensuring that the correct processes are followed to guarantee the smooth running of the company.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations, ensuring the store runs smoothly and efficiently.
  • Provide excellent customer service, assisting customers in selecting and purchasing firearms and related products.
  • Manage inventory, including ordering, receiving, and stocking firearms, ammunition, and accessories.
  • Manage important paperwork and regulatory licensing tasks.
  • Maintain accurate and current price lists for all product ranges.
  • Liaise with suppliers for latest products and promotions, communicate this information to the marketing team for content promotion.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations related to firearm sales and ownership.
  • Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and returns in a professional manner.
  • Maintain an updated and appealing store layout and shop displays.
  • Hire, train, and supervise store employees.
  • Process sales transactions, handle cash management and tilling up.

Key Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience of leading a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Have excellent time-management, delegation and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communications skills and a clear telephone manner.
  • Ability to motivate and drive your team on every shift.
  • Determination to complete tasks on time and maximise productivity.
  • Computer Literature and ability to accurately fill out important documents.
  • A good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel
  • Knowledge or an interest in the sporting firearms industry would be an advantage.

This is a Full-Time Position, 40 hours per week, salary range between £29,000 - £32,500. You will also receive enhanced annual leave (dependent upon service), discount on our products plus opportunities to attend national and international supplier and manufacturer events.

Your working hours will be between 9am - 5.30pm, 5 days a week including Saturdays.
